March 2015

The PTA would like to welcome our new Chairperson, Andrew McMenamin and Vice-Chairperson, Allen Lim, to the school and to our PTA and extend our thanks for all her hard work as Chairperson to Urszula Bedggood.   The PTA is also looking for a secretary - if you have skills to suit please get in touch - contact Urszula on 027 338 7889.  Welcome also to our new PTA members.

The hall is currently being used for classroom space so we won't be organising a disco in Term 1. There will be one in term two - mid May sometime so keep an eye on the newsletter for more details.

The Entertainment Books will be sold again this year to raise funds for school.  Look out for the form in your child's schoolbag before the end of term.

The enviro-garden is nearly finished, although some of it is fenced off due to the work being done on classrooms.  There's still more to come so hopefully this project can be finished off early next term.

What a great summer we've had and thanks for the pool-key holders who have been enjoying our school pool throughout the summer.  We're not sure how many weeks we'll have left but an email will be going out to those key-holders when the school decides the pool needs to be closed.  Please return keys promptly and receive your deposit back.  Thanks.

The PTA at the  moment are in need of your help with the following....if you can spare even one hour to help us out it would be greatly appreciated...
 
1) All Things Beautiful, an evening of fun, fashion and shopping.  Please get in touch with Tracie Lucas if you can give us half an hour to an hour of your time to help setup, at the event or afterwards btlucas@orcon.net.nz.  This is a huge event with lots of planning and organisation to date, there are lots of little but meaningful jobs that need to be done on the night that would help in the smooth running of the event immensely.  We hope to see you there too.
The Date - Thursday 25th of September 2014
Setup will begin from 12pm on the 25th, the event is from 7-10pm and pack up will be after the event.
If you have a business or a product that would make a great raffle prize and you'd consider donating to our great cause we would very much appreciate it - please contact Rachel at lincolnallthingsbeautiful@gmail.com 
Remember if you'd like tickets you can email the above address, message the facebook page (Lincoln All Things Beautiful) or find a PTA member at school selling tickets on Monday and Friday before and after school or at the assemblies.
 
2) Bunnings BBQ - Sunday 19th of October.  The bread, sausages, sauce and onions are organised, but we need volunteers who can man the BBQ at Bunnings Tower Junction with a team of other parents from 9-4pm.  Again we are asking for between 1/2 hour to 1 hour of your time to help out. Can you please email Shane Hole if you are able to help on the day jsbd@xtra.co.nz.
 
3)  School Disco - Friday 17 of October - The hall will be sparkling and the tunes playing, we need parents to help out at the Setup, Junior and Senior Discos. 
Setup - on Thursday 16th October from 7.30pm - 8:30 in the school hall
Junior Disco - Friday 17th October from 5.30 - 7.30pm
Senior Disco - Friday 17th October from 7.15 - 9.15pm

4) We need your uniforms!  Although the new uniform is available you don't need to have it
 till 2016.  There's a lot of new children starting at school so old uniforms are useful.
The uniform shop is open weekly 2.45 - 3.15 in the hall every Thursday.

5)  Our next PTA meeting is Monday 1st of September from 7.30pm in the information centre.  A huge THANK YOU goes to those parents that have been coming along to these meetings - it's great to see the numbers growing.  If you would like more information please do not hesitate to contact our current Chairperson Urszula Bedggood if you have any questions dubedggood@clear.net.nz - there is no obligation to come every time but you may just enjoy it and meet a few new parents!

Bunnings BBQ - we need someone to co-ordinate this fundraiser - which is being held on Sunday, October 19th.  We have most of the supplies organised so just need someone who is able to finalise the details and organise the volunteers and make sure the day runs smoothly.  If you can help please email Urszula at dubedggood@clear.net.nz

Sewing Bee for Kapa Haka outfits - if you're handy on the sewing machine, can you contact Julie Paterson as she needs a couple of hours of your time in the holidays.  The Kapa Haka group will be attending the first ever Ellesmere Kapa Haka Festival in September and need some outfits.

New Uniforms are coming to Lincoln Primary - but in the meantime you may have a requirement for a top or fleece to tide you over.  No matter what you need, try the PTA second-hand uniform shop.  Everything is $5, excepts for fleeces which are $10.

The PTA has been busy organising fundraising events for our school.  Coming up we have the First Aid Kits for sale.  All Things Beautiful in September and the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in October.  See below for more details.

Our meetings are held on the first Monday of every month during the school
term but with the holidays in July the next PTA meeting is on Monday 30th of June in the Information Centre at school at 7.30pm.


First Aid Kit fundraiser
We will be selling First Aid Kits as a school fundraiser. A notice about these will
be going home with all children. The brochure and order form is attached to
the Lincoln Loop email. A whopping $12 from each kit will come back to the school,
the kits are ONLY $39 and retail for over $60!. Orders are due by the end of
the term (30th of June 2014). These would be great for home, office, batch, boat or car. Simply fill in the attached form, and return to the school office.


All Things Beautiful is our major fundraiser for the year and will be held on the evening of Thursday, 25 September 2014. We will be sending out more information soon and also asking for helpers on the night. Bunnings BBQ -  Sunday 19 October
This is a great fundraiser but we need some help please.  Would someone be willing to organise the Bunnings BBQ coming up early in Term 4. We would like someone who can help co-ordinate the products for the BBQ and organise volunteers. The PTA has great contacts for free supplies and most of the hard work has already been done, we just need a good go-to-person to help us with running this. Thank You to all parents who have beenbuying books for their children through the
Scholastic Book Club. As a result of the combined spend, we have $450 available for
the library to spend on new books this term! 

And Thank you for once again supporting the Entertainment Book fundraiser - over $1300 has been raised for the school.  There's still a few books left if you need one!
